I tried to update my WNDR3700v1 router with a newer build (can't remember which one now and the wireless bands (both) are not working and no active LED for these is operating.

I've tried to tftp back to a netgear firmware but that ends up in the device being bricked.

I can restore back to dd-wrt build (e.g. 23919) but the wireless still doesn't work and the wireless LED's on the router are no longer functioning.

And yes I've tried the 30/30/30 after flashing to a newer build and also tried erase nvram.

Any ideas what I can do?

When I tftp the netgear firmware to my WNDR4300, I actually need to wait about 10~15 minutes for anything to work, and even there, I need to reset it before I can access the webgui. (and wait another 5~10 minutes... and then Windows decides to throw a fit and not let me connect to it until I force it to reinitialize my network card.. After that I also need to reset my Modem or else I don't have WAN access...)
Sometimes I even have to re-do the tftp firmware upgrade with the same netgear firmware for it to work.

If you can restore back to a DD-WRT build.. why can't you "restore" to the latest 27147 ?

I've tried the stock firmware update many times with no luck, results in the power led staying solid amber and no wifi leds but the internet connection flashes green.

I've tried several builds of dd-wrt but all result in the build being successful but wi-fi LED's don't appear and no wireless option in the dd-wrt gui.

Very strange.

I don't mean to be an obtuse douche, but could you have accidentally hit the wireless cut off button on the front of the case?

LOL! Nah I've checked that, even if that's the case shouldn't you still get the wireless tab in the dd-wrt gui?

That would lead me to think that either the flash memory has an error in it or the antenna is fried.

Perhaps try to flash with another firmware to verify which it is, like openwrt.

Their firmware is half the size, and may give some wiggle room.

So I installed openWRT successfully but no wireless lights appeared.

I was able to log into the gui with no issues but couldn't see any configuration for the wireless settings.

I tried the 27240 build which was tftp'd successfully but still no wireless after trying to access the gui.

Is there any way to fix the caldata for this router?

Anyone? It sounds like there might be a caldata issue.

I've read some posts on the forums about fixing caldata and it appears you need a configuration file and need to run some commands to restore a working version of the caldata?

I've actually looked at those two tickets and my first question would be what router software would need to be installed for this fix to work?

- Do I need to flash the netgear, ddwrt or openwrt first first to get this to work?
- I tried the mtd unlock caldata command and the return message was that it couldn't unlock device caldata, i also tried mtd unlock art with no luck either.

You legend!

I got it working by changing the caldata to board_config and now have the both wireless ranges working again.

Only took me about 3 weeks to work it out and hopefully never run into that issue again!
